Πάλεψε με την "αρκούδα"

Αν και επιθετικά ξεπέρασε τις προσδοκίες, αμυντικά ο Ολυμπιακός ήταν κατώτερος των περιστάσεων και ηττήθηκε με 92-85 από την ΤΣΣΚΑ στη Μόσχα για την 7η αγωνιστική του Τop-16. Με την ολοκλήρωση του 1ου γύρου, ο Ολυμπιακός έχει σκορ 3-4 και φαίνεται πως οι ήττες από Μπάμπεργκ και Ζαλγκίρις μπορεί να αποδειχθούν μοιραίες.

Η ΤΣΣΚΑ γύρισε σωστά την μπάλα στην επίθεση και έβρισκε πάντα το κενό μέσα στη ρακέτα του Ολυμπιακού. Εκμεταλλεύτηκε στο έπακρο τα μις-ματς και έπαιξε με τις αδυναμίες του Ολυμπιακού. Έκλεισε καλά το Σπανούλη με double-team πάνω του σχεδόν σε κάθε φάση, όμως ο αρχηγός του Ολυμπιακού ήταν καλός οργανωτικά και μοίρασε σωστά το παιχνίδι για τους συμπαίκτες του.

 Ο Ολυμπιακός έβγαλε ενέργεια και διεκδίκησε στα ίσα τη νίκη μέχρι και το τέλος. Για ακόμα μια φορά σταθερή αξία ο Πρίντεζης, κύρια επιθετική αιχμή του Ολυμπιακού και με ποστ παιχνίδι. Πολύ καλός ο Χάντερ, διάβασε σωστά την άμυνα της ΤΣΣΚΑ και έβγαλε και 2 ωραία alley-oop καρφώματα με Σπανούλη. 

Ενέργεια στο παιχνίδι έδωσε και ο Στρόμπερι ποτ βρίσκεται σε καλή κατάσταση τον τελευταίο καιρό. Σταθερά καλός τον τελευταίο καιρό και ο Χάκετ.

Ο Ολυμπιακός πήγε ουσιαστικά σε rotation 8 παικτών. O Όντομ δε χρησιμοποιήθηκε από το Σφαιρόπουλο, σε αντίθεση με τα προηγούμενα ματς.

Ο Ολυμπιακός πρέπει να δείξει χαρακτήρα και να χτυπήσει πλέον όλα τα εντός έδρας ματς (Λαμποράλ - Ζαλγκίρις - Ρεάλ - ΤΣΣΚΑ) και να αναζητήσει και ένα τουλάχιστον διπλό σε Βαρκελώνη , Γερμανία (Μπάμπεργκ), Ρωσία (Χίμκι).

CSKA Moscow holds off Olympiacos to keep share of top spot in Group F

CSKA Moscow reached the midway point of the Top 16 with a share of first place in Group F after holding off Olympiacos Piraeus 92-85 on Friday in the Russian capital. Milos Teodosic scored 10 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as the hosts held onto the lead after Olympiacos had taken a slim lead in the third quarter. The result boosted CSKA’s record to 5-2 and a tie with Laboral Kutxa Vitoria-Gasteiz for the group lead, while Olympiacos fell to 3-4 after its fourth loss in five games and is tied for fifth place. Nando DeColo added 19 points, Cory Higgins scored 12, Nikita Kurbanov 11 and Kyle Hines 10 for the winners. CSKA looked to pull away when it built a double-digit lead in the second quarter and led 41-33 at halftime, but the visitors started the second half with 8 straight points to tie it and later took a 49-50 lead on a D.J. Strawberry triple. However Higgins scored the next 5 points and though Olympiacos kept it close, CSKA held on the rest of the way. Georgios Printezis paced the Reds with 19 points and 9 rebounds, Daniel Hackett added 17 points, Vassilis Spanoulis posted 15 points and 6 assists, Othello Hunter also scored 15 and Matt Lojeski 10.

First quarter: Kurnbanov scored 9 to give hosts early lead

The hosts got on the scoreboard first through Kurbanov’s three-point play. Printezis started things for the Reds with a floater. Jumpers by Victor Khryapa and De Colo made it 7-2. Nikola Milutinov’s block of Kurbanov denied CSKA another score and Lojeski capitalized on it with a triple. De Colo fed Joel Freeland inside for a slam, but just after the TV timeout, Hunter powered his way to a layup for the Reds. Kurbanov continued to play a major role in the CSKA attack with three straight baskets to boost the difference to 15-7. Hunter rescued Olympiacos with a put back, but Teodosic kept the hosts humming with free throws. Printezis closed the gap with a hook shot and a floater on consecutive possessions. After free throws by Hines and Hackett, CSKA led 18-15 at the end of the quarter.

Second quarter: CSKA pushed advantage to double digits

Hines went past Hunter for a layup and Printezis committed an offensive foul at the other end. Hunter scored his third bucket in the paint, but Vitaly Fridzon countered with the home team’s first three-pointer for a 23-17 lead. Hunter soared to reject Higgins, but it worked out well for CSKA when Hines dunked in the rebound. After an Olympiacos timeout, Hackett nailed a triple, but Higgins matched him at the other end. D.J. Strawberry got on the board for the visitors with a tough layup, but Hines gave the hosts the momentum with a vicious two-handed slam and foul and later 2 free throws for a 32-22 CSKA advantage. Higgins stole the ball from Spanoulis and the hosts capitalized with an Andrey Vorontsevich free throw. Printezis put back his own miss and Lojeski drilled his second triple to close the gap to 6. De Colo produced the ultimate Euroleague Fantasy Challenge play with an offensive rebound, basket, foul drawn and free throw made. Freeland restored a double digit lead with a layup plus foul. Free throws by Spanoulis and a Lojeski jumper brought Olympiacos back to life. After a Freeland slam and a Printezis floater, Higgins split free throws to make it 41-33 at the break.

Third quarter: Reds rally to take slim lead

The Reds came out ready for the second half; Hunter scored a basket-plus foul. Then his steal led to a Spanoulis layup before Printezis tied the game at 41-41 with a triple to cap a 0-8 start to the half. Freeland and De Colo put CSKA back in front, but Spanoulis fed Hunter for an alley-oop slam as Olymapicos continue its assault. De Colo and Spanoulis traded free throws and then Jackson and Spanoulis swapped layup. Strawberry nailed a triple for the visitors first lead, 49-50. Higgins took charge with a nifty move in the paint and a three from the corner to put CSKA back in control, but Spanoulis found Hunter for another alley-oop slam. Hines rejected Printezis and Teodosic blew by the Olympiacos forward for a three-point play and a 57-52 advantage. The CSKA guard nailed a three, after which Olympiacos called timeout. Strawberry player the pick-and-roll with Hunter for a wicked slam and foul and Strawberry made it a 5-point game. Higgins and Aaron Jackson kept CSKA in charge with free throws, but Printezis sank another floater. After Teodosic free throws, Hackett’s triple ended the quarter at 66-61.

Fourth quarter: Teodosic scores 10 to lift CSKA to victory

Teodosic opened the final stanza with a triple. Lojeski countered with a layup and Strawberry rejected Hines from behind. After a Printezis block on Teodosic, Strawberry raced for a dunk in transition. De Colo and Hackett traded threes to keep things close. A jumper by Hackett made it 73-70. Free throws by Teodosic and De Colo on CSKA’s next two possessions restored a 7-point advantage with five minutes to go. Hackett responded with 2 free throws, but Higgins sank a turnaround jumper. Then Spanoulis free throws were cancelled out by a Kurbanov jumper over Spanoulis. De Colo stretched the difference to 9 with three minutes remaining, but Spanoulis responded with a triple. After a timeout, Teodosic made free throws and Spanoulis split a pair. A great pass by Teodosic to De Colo for a layup was almost a dagger. Free throws by Hackett and Printezis made it a 6-point game with 55 seconds to go. A Khryapa jumper over Spanoulis all but sealed the win with 34 seconds left. Even an offensive rebound and three-point play by Printezis was too little, too late. A triple by Teodosicwith 10 seconds left all but wrapped up the win.

Το μουδιασμένο ξεκίνημα του Ολυμπιακού, έδωσε την ευκαιρία στη Χίμκι να βρει ρυθμό κυρίως με τα σουτ και να πάρει προβάδισμα νωρίς στο ματς που έφτασε μεχρι και το +12 (27-39 στο 16'). Η άμυνα των ερυθρολεύκων αντιμετωπίζει για ακόμα μια φορά έλλειψη συγκέντρωσης και η Χίμκι κυκλοφορεί την μπάλα με μεγάλη ευκολία, καθώς βρίσκει αφύλακτους τους παίκτες της και μέσα στη ρακέτα από τις αργές περιστροφές του Ολυμπιακού στην άμυνα και στα hedge out. 

Ο Μάντζαρης βρίσκεται σε αγωνιστική πτώση και δε βοηθάει την ομάδα. Στο πρόσωπο του Χάκετ και πάλι ο Ολυμπιακός βρίσκει τον παίχτη που οργανώνει αλλά και όταν πρέπει σκοράρει είτε με σουτ, είτε με drive. Ο Πρίντεζης έχει μπει καυτός στον αγώνα και αποτελεί τον κύριο εκφραστή επιθέσεων της ομάδας. Έτσι καταφέρνει ο Ολυμπιακός να μαζέψει τη διαφορά στους 5 για το ημίχρονο (38-43). 

Το συμμάζεμα αυτό και η μικρή αφύπνιση του Ολυμπιακού στο τέλος της δεύτερης περιόδου, βοήθησε για την ολική επαναφορά της ομάδας στο ματς. Οι ερυθρόλευκοι έκαναν ένα εξαιρετικό 2ο ημίχρονο βγάζοντας πολλή ενεργεία στην άμυνα και θύμισαν τον παλιό καλό Ολυμπιακό που έκανε τις μεγάλες ανατροπές. 

Τα γνώριμα κοντά σχήματα του Σφαιρόπουλου με Πρίντεζη ή Χάντερ στο 5 και Παπαπέτρου στο 4, αύξησαν την πίεση στην άμυνα. Πίεση σε όλο το γήπεδο και αλλαγές στα σκριν ήταν η συνταγή που αποδιοργάνωσε το παιχνίδι της Χίμκι. 

Το επιθετικό παιχνίδι του Ολυμπιακού εστιάζεται στο ποστ. Σαφής η τάση να ποστάρει ο Χάκετ τον Σβεντ (τον φόρτωσε με 2ο και 3ο φάουλ από το 27' - και ας μην ήταν στη βραδιά του ο Ρώσος σταρ), ο Παπαέτρου και ο Πρίντεζης επίσης τους αντιπάλους τους. Γενικά ο Σφαιρόπουλος επέλεξε να παέι σε επιθέσεις μέσα από τη ρακέτα και αυτό του βγήκε. 

Με πολλή πίεση λοιπόν και με σχήμα Χάκετ, Όντομ, Στρόμπερι, Παπαπέτρου και Χάντερ (χωρίς Σπανούλη και Πρίντεζη στο διάστημα αυτό) χαλάει το παιχνίδι και το μυαλό της Χίμκι και καταφέρνει να προσπεράσει με τη λήξη της 3ης περιόδου για το 62-60. 

Σε σούπερ βραδιά οι Στρόμπερι - Πρίντεζης - Χάκετ και ακολουθούν οι Χάντερ και Όντομ. Πολύ ουσιαστικός και ο Σπανούλης. Πολλή ενέργεια και ουσία και από τον Παπαπέτρου.

Με τη φόρα από το 3ο δεκάλεπτο συνέχισε και στην τελευταία περίοδο ο Ολυμπιακός. Η καλή ατομική άμυνα των Χάκετ - Όντομ - Στρόμπερι (μοναδικά highlights τα 2 μπλοκ του Στρόμπερι) φέρνει αποτελέσματα και βγάζει αιφνιδιασμούς για τον Ολυμπιακό. Ο Χάκετ δίνει πόντους στην ομάδα είτε με καλάθια είτε με ασίστ. Ο Πρίντεζης σκοράρει με κάθε τρόπο (ποστ - τρίποντα) και το νερό έχει μπει στο αυλάκι. Ο Ολυμπιακός διευρύνει συνεχώς το προβάδισμά του και χτίζει και διαφορά για το 2ο αγώνα στη Ρωσία. 

Μπαίνει στο 35' και ο Σπανούλης να αποτελειώσει τους Ρώσους με μοναδικές ασίστ και προσωπικούς πόντος. Με τρίποντο του γράφεται το 82-70. Το σκορ έφτασε ως και το 86-71 στο 38'. Το παιχνίδι είχε κριθεί. Ο Ολυμπιακός με πολυ καλή εμφάνιση στο 2ο ημίχρονο πήρε τη νίκη για το τελικό 89-77. 

Ο όμιλος ειναι φωτιά. Προηγούνται ΤΣΣΚΑ - Χίμκι - Λαμποράλ με 4-2, ακολουθούν Μπάμπεργκ - Ρεάλ - Ολυμπιακός με 3-3. Η Μπαρτσελόνα στο 2-4 και η Ζαλγκίρις στο 1-5 (μοναδική της νίκη με τον Ολυμπιακό).

Ο Ολυμπιακός μένει πίσω στο παιχνίδι του με τον Μιλουτίνοφ στο 5. Το παιδί ξέρει μπασκετ, απλά θέλει ακόμα πολυ ψήσιμο στην Ευρωλίγκα και αυτός ο όμιλος δεν αποτελεί δοκιμαστική διαδικασία. Ο Αγραβάνης εχεις χάσει τη θέση του απο τον Παπαετρου που αγωνίζεται πιο πολυ στο 4 και δεν αγωνίστηκε καθόλου στο ματς.  

Ο Μάντζαρης ειναι σε κάμψη. Ο Λοτζέσκι επιστρέφει σιγα σιγά σε πλήρεις ρυθμούς. Στην αμυνα χθες δεν τα κατάφερε ιδιαίτερα με επιτυχία. Στην επίθεση είχε 2/6 εντός πεδιάς. Ο Αθηναίου είχε απλή συμμετοχή 2'.

Printezis, Hackett rally Reds to come-from-behind win over Khimki

Olympiacos Piraeus rallied from several double-digits deficits before turning on all the engines and rallying to beat Khimki Moscow Region 89-77 on Friday night at the Peace & Friendship Stadium. Olympiacos snapped its three-game losing streak, despite falling behind 27-39 in the second quarter, and 44-56 in the third quarter. However, stepping up to play some great defense, Daniel Hackett and Darius Johnson-Odom facilitating things on offense and Georgios Printezis netting points, the Reds got it going and never stopped. In a span of 14 minutes, Olympiacos put together a 42-15 run, and in the end won comfortably to improve to 3-3 in Group F, while dropping Khimki to 4-2. Printezis finished with a career-high 30 points, to go along with 9 rebounds. Vassilis Spanoulis had 14 points and 6 assists, and Hackett also scored 14. Othello Hunter collected 10 points and 10 rebound in victory. Tyrese Rice finished with 14 points and 8 assists for Khimki. James Augustine scored 13 points, Sergey Monia netted 12 on 4-of-5 shooting from long range, while Alexey Shved and Zoran Dragic scored 11 apiece in the losing effort.

First quarter: Khimki scores 14 in a row, hosts rally right back

Spanoulis split free throws to open the scoring, and Othello Hunter finished a fast break with a dunk. Sergey Monia nailed a three-pointer to open Khimki's account and tie it at 3-3. Spanoulis drove for reverse layup, and after a Khimki timeout, Zoran Dragic finished a breakaway with a layup. Georgios Printezis scored inside, but Dragic bettered it from the outside and Tyrese Rice drove for a layup, making it 7-10. The visitors’ run did not stop there, as Rice dished a length-of-the-court pass for a Shved layup, and James Augustine scored from close range on the ensuing possession to open a 7-14 margin halfway through the first quarter. After an Olympiacos timeout, two more Khimki fast breaks produced Shved’s layup, Monia’s triple and a 7-19 margin. A Printezis triple snapped a 0-14 run, before Lojeski added a short jumper to the Reds’ tally. Printezis continued the run with a fastbreak layup-plus-foul, then capped it at 10-0 with a fastbreak dunk as Olympiacos needed 75 seconds to cut 14-point deficit to 17-19. After a Khimki timeout, Shved nailed a fadeaway jumper, but Spanoulis answered with a triple to get the hosts within 1 point. Before the quarter’s end, Dmitry Sokolov scored from close range for Khimki, helping the visitors to a 20-24 lead after 10 minutes.

Second quarter: Khimki pulls away again, Reds stay in touch

Hackett hit a triple for Olympiacos. After a Tyler Honeycutt tip-in, Hackett dished to Milutinov for an easy dunk. Papapetrou tied it on the next Olympiacos possession with a coast-to-coast layup. However, Rice answered with a tough off-balance triple, Egor Vyaltsev added one of his own, and after Shved’s free throws, Honeycutt buried a corner three to help open a 27-39 cushion midway through the second quarter. Printezis snapped a 0-12 run, and after Augustine’s basket, Lojeski nailed a triple, then dished it for Printezis, who cut it the deficit to 34-41 from close range. Shved drove for a layup, but Printezis scored again inside and Hacket drove the length of the court to finish the half with a layup that made it 38-43 at halftime.

Third quarter: Khimki builds another lead

Spanoulis found his favorite target, Printezis, who started the quarter with a layup. But Khimki wasn’t going to let its lead just slip away as Rice nailed a three-pointer, making it 41-48. Spanoulis answered with a three of his own, but Monia nailed one from downtown in transition, before Augustine had a put-back and Monia another three, his fourth, to extend the difference to 44-56. Hunter’s dunk-plus-foul snapped a 0-8 run, and Printezis scored a second-chance basket inside for the hosts. Dragic made a tough runner, before 3 of 4 free throws from Hackett made it 52-58. Darius Johnson-Odom grabbed his missed free throw and put it back to get Olympiacos within 3, then Strawberry hit a tough three-pointer to tie it at 58-58. Augustine snapped a 14-2 run with a layup, but Olympiacos countered with a dunk from Hunter before Papapetrou put the hosts in front with a fastbreak layup, making it 62-60 at the end of the quarter.

Fourth quarter: Olympiacos does not stop running

Printezis scored from close range, and Hackett’s free throws made it 66-60. It was a 22-4 charge over a span of seven minutes for the Reds, and it got bigger when Hackett banked in a floater. Vylatsev knocked down a triple to cut to 68-63. Hackett had a fastbreak dunk, but Rice quickly scored at the other end. Olympiacos had a bit of luck when a scramble for a loose ball turned into a Printezis three-pointer midway through the fourth, 73-65. Augustine and Spanoulis traded baskets, before, Shved’s corner triple gave Khimki hope at 75-70. However, Spanoulis fed a trailing Hunter for a monster dunk, then after a timeout, Spanoulis buried a triple, and D.J. Strawberry’s fastbreak dunk opened an 84-70 advantage. An easy two by Johnson-Odom made it 15-point affair, before a layup by Dragic snapped an 11-1 run. In the remaining time, Printezis hit another triple to round out his personally tally at 30 points.
